Mininova starts filtering content

Well im sad to report a massive blow in the torrenting world,
Mininova has sold out and will now filter and remove any copyrighted content from the site. it will use a content recognition system that detects and removes torrent files. With a BREIN court case against the site coming next month this is obviously a messure to protect themselves, Time will tell how arguably the biggest tracker in the world will cope with this and how effective the system is. Time will tell but i predict massive drops in hits for the site, also this affects EasyaXXo to as we use mininova, we shall think hard on how to bring any future aXXo releases to you safely and keep you posted.

Hi all,

Here at Mininova we are working continuously on ways to improve our platform. One example is our content distribution service, where we offer producers and artists a way to expose and share their work with BitTorrent users.

Today, we decided to extend our platform and run a trial with content recognition. This basically means that likely infringing video files referred to by torrents are checked by a third party content recognition system. If the system finds that the file corresponds to unauthorized content, we remove and block the torrent that refers to this file on Mininova.

We hope that this system will make it easier for copyright owners to remove torrents that refer to infringing content from Mininova, while still offering the best platform to our users.

So far links on these pages have been unaffected but i dont know how long that will last. A part of me is hoping that this is some kind of trick to prove that it is almost imposable to monitor the content uploaded and used by millions of users.
