National Treasure 2

While Ben is presenting new information about John Wilkes Booth and the 18 pages missing from Booth's diary, one man stands up and presents a missing page of John Wilkes Booth's diary. Thomas Gates, Ben's great-grandfather, is mentioned in the page. It shows that Ben's great-grandfather could have been involved with Abraham Lincoln's murder. When doing more research, the conspiracy takes Ben, Abigail, and Riley to Buckingham Palace (which they break into). It takes them to a book in the White House (which they break into also) and they even steal a page from the book. But in order to see more from the book, their choice is either get elected president or kidnap the President of the United States. Which do they choose? It's obvious. The conspiracy then crosses to Mount Rushmore and they even mention the JFK conspiracy. Can Ben clear his family's name? Or will his family be linked to the murder of Abraham Lincoln?

Teeth

It's definitely not as intense as I Spit on Your Grave, but worth a watch. The premise behind the story is interesting, to say the least. I am surprised it got picked up at Sundance. Personally, I was expecting something with.. well... more "teeth" (pun intended). I would think this would be something that goes straight to video, but I guess someone thought this deserved more and brought it up from the depths of B-movie'dom. The FX and editing were horrible, but what do you expect considering the budget and who they probably had to hire to work on the job.

I'm Not There

Take all the music, everything you've heard, read, seen in documentaries about Bob and throw them in a blender and pull them out and what you get is "I'm not there" And it's a tasty concoction of a movie that comes off like a dream of everything that's publicly known about his life. Perhaps even Bob himself dreaming about the course of his life. The more you do know about what's out there about Bob the more you'll be able to make the connections with the scenes in this beautiful montage about the poet, songwriter, and musician genius of the last 60 plus years. This is a great film about a very complicated artist who could never be pinned down as representing any one ideology or persona although he seemed to imply many. I suppose Dylan will always be the great enigma and this film only helps to perpetuate it, which is part of what makes it so successful but as we all now know there's no success like failure and failure's no success at all.

Over Her Dead Body

OK. This movie is absolutely humorous. There are so many parts in this movie that i found myself absolutely laughing and almost falling out of my chair! Any movie that has Paul Rudd in it, it will be hysterical. Eva Longoria Parker is so beautiful in this movie. I admit i have not seen desperate housewives, But i think Eva Longoria Parker did an excellent job to make this movie SO frikin funny. Jason Biggs is absolutely perfect to play a part like this. If you love Jason Biggs antics in American Pie, You'll definitely laugh in this movie. This movie reminds me about a saying that i used to hear all the time when i was younger, "When you talk to God it's called a prayer, but when God talks back it's called skitzophrenia" (or however that word is spelled).

Donkey Xote

Donkey Xote features stars of film, TV and radio as the voices of the eponymous hero, his faithful sidekick, Sancho Panza, and assorted animal companions as they set off to fight a duel in Barcelona over Don Quixote's beloved Dulcinea del Toboso.

The adventures of Don Quixote may take up hundreds of pages in Cervantes' classic, but the film's producers have by necessity played fast and loose with the story in their adaptation. Squeezing the novel into 80 minutes, it gives starring roles to Don Quixote's trusty steed, Rocinante, and Sancho Panza's donkey, Rucio - who bears a striking resemblance to the donkey from the successful Shrek series, voiced by Eddie Murphy.

27 Dresses

Once again Katherine Heigl gives an audience a very crowd pleasing performance with a character who you root for from the very first scene as "Bridesmaid of the Year" and a supporting cast that enhances the journey and the story. Yes, the story is formulaic and even a bit corny at times, but in a sea of films out now that are dark and dreary, it is just great to watch the beautiful, intelligent and talented Heigl appear in wedding after wedding in 27 DRESSES until she meets the man of her dreams. The shots of New York make the film zing along, and with the handsome Edward Burns as the "man of desire", he is outpaced by the charming James Marsden as the new Prince Charming. I can hardly wait for another Heigl film.

St Trinians

I was a bit nervous about going to see St Trinian's, because I've seen all the previous films and was worried by the title and the trailer-glimpses of Rupert Everett that this film would try to 'overwrite' the original. It doesn't. This is why I think it works. Like the sequels from the first film, once again St Trinian's moves the concept into its own era. It's jam packed with innuendo and humour and a new plot line. Perhaps it'll never be as good as 'The Belles' but then, none of the other sequels were as good as 'The Belles' either, and they didn't try to be. The spirit of the thing was there and it was good fun to watch.

Virgin Territory

As a big fan of classic swashbucklers i wasn't expecting much of this movie and because of that I liked it very much. It's very low budget, but has some decent sword fights. Besides that its filled with beautiful women (actually beautiful) and yes, quite some nudity. But in a non-offensive and quite charming way. Mischa Barton is looking great as a historical figure (better than perfect-teeth Keira Knightley in PotC, P&P) and Hayden is quite good with his sword and a better swashbuckling hero than for example Heith Ledger in Casanova or Orlando Bloom. the movie is just great fun. its highly entertaining with the simple stuff: swords and love. i enjoyed it a lot. Actually the first entertaining swashbuckler of the 21st century.

Dog Bite Dog

This has to be one of the best movies to come out of HK in a long time, i was eagerly waiting to get my hands on this movie just looking at the title. Loads of fantastic actors in this show and i was particularly impressed with Sam Lee's impossibly believable insane behavior and Edison's portrayal of a killer machine, which totally reversed his normal idol image. i would definitely recommend to those looking for a stylish and action packed movie. However, i must warn you, this is also an equally depressing movie, as every character in the movie is in some kind of dead end and trouble of their own, and struggling to breathe. Makes you think about what is life about really.

One Missed Call

This is just one of those films based on a good film (the original is wicked), that Hollywood sees as an opportunity to remake and make a load of money off. Please do not help accomplish this ! The Japanese version was based on "what you can't see is scarier than what you can see !", and played out as a highly decent scary movie. But then came along the Americans (no offense, i'm one) which bases a movie nowadays on "how much money can we inject into explosions, shattered glass, blowing up cars,... that we won't have to pay to get decent actors ?". And voilà you get this turd of a remake. Get the Japanese version and stick to it, in it the actors at least look like teenagers, in the American version they all look over thirty. I mean come on, how dumb are we ? (or how many years in a row have they flunked class)

The Bank Job

In September 1971, thieves tunneled into the vault of a bank in London's Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewelry worth over three million pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was ever arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then disappeared - the result of a 'D' Notice, gagging the press. This film reveals what was hidden for the first time. The story involves murder, corruption and a sex scandal with links to the Royal Family - a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.

Sharpshooter

For a TV movie, this isn't at all bad. I thought the opening was excellent and the back story of the lead feasible and solid. I only browsed through the channels and came upon this. I read the synopsis and it seemed to be a cheesy shoot 'em up style movie which I am a huge fan of (eg - Seagal, Bosworth etc.). If you are into movies like those, then watch this if you can catch it on TV. Its solid and the performances aren't half bad. I thought that it went a little bit by the numbers in its plot, and I also have to criticise the slow middle section of the movie where action is sacrificed of espionage. One can see that they creators are trying to make a credible movie so they can be forgiven for that.

In The Name Of The King

I am a big fan of fantasy movies. I love Lord of the Rings. But, I am sorry to say, this movies shows, what all can go wrong! The story is thin, the acting is average at most, the dialogs are embarrassing dumb. Even the special effects are not up to date. In one scene the CGI characters even judder ! The only nice thing are Claire Forlani, Kristanna Loken and Eva Padberg (although only one short scene) - but only because of their visual appearance. Leelee Sobieski is disappointing stiff. Jason Stratham is a good actor for action movies, but fiction movies have a story, too. Burt Reynolds - I don't know, why he did it. John Rhys-Davies a veteran to this genre - helpless. Ray Liotta - suffers from bad directing.

I just saw a screening in LA and a packed house of SAG members LOVED this film! Ryan Gosling's performance hearkens back an equally moving and effective performance from Peter Sellers in Being There, which Gosling and director Craig Gilespie admitted was about their only reference point. Gosling's character is sweet, good natured, and painfully shy and is the heart and soul of this film. His performance as Lars (along with patient direction and a wonderful script) is the prime reason that it all works. I laughed HARD throughout, but by the end I shed real tears over the plot and characters - and I thought doing so over a talking pig was bad! This is a performance WAY out of the ordinary for Gosling, and most of today's young actors could not have pulled it off. Expect an Oscar nomination for Gosling and for the screenplay.

Juno

Sixteen year-old Juno MacGuff is the type of girl that beats to her own drummer, and doesn't really care what others may think of her. She learns that she's pregnant from a one-time sexual encounter with her best friend, Paulie Bleeker. Juno and Paulie like each other, but don't consider themselves to be exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend let alone be ready to be a family complete with child. Although she would rather not be pregnant, Juno is fairly pragmatic about her situation. Although there, Paulie really leaves all the decisions about the baby to Juno. Initially she decides that she will have an abortion, but that's something that she ultimately cannot go through with. So she decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. But first she has to tell her father, Mac, and stepmother, Bren, that she is pregnant. Although they would have preferred if Juno was on hard drugs or expelled from school, Mac and Bren too are pragmatic about Juno's situation. The next step is to find prospective parents for the yet unborn child. In the Pennysaver ad section, Juno finds Mark and Vanessa Loring, a yuppie couple living in the suburbs. Juno likes the Lorings, and in some respects has found who looks to be a kindred spirit in Mark, with whom she shares a love of grunge music and horror films. Vanessa is a little more uptight and is the one in the relationship seemingly most eager to have a baby. On her own choosing, Juno enters into a closed rather than open adoption contract with the Lorings - meaning she will have no contact with the baby after she gives it up. During the second and third trimesters of Juno's pregnancy which she treats with care but detachment, Juno's relationships with her family, with Paulie, and with the Lorings develop, the latter whose on the surface perfect life masks some hidden problems.

Tooth & Nail

This movie is horrible. It's a bunch of boring people sitting around a room talking and talking about boring stuff. It's like being stuck in someone's horrible poli sci college class or something. I almost walked out, and then like twenty minutes in, one of these guys gets his throat cut. And I was like, wow, maybe stuff will happen now. But no. They went back to the room with the boring stupid talk. By the time the bad guys finally show up, you're just praying for all these losers to get it.

The script is one of the worst I've seen in awhile. The sets couldn't be more boring than if you took a cam corder down to your community college. The cast cannot save this film. If I hadn't seen some of them in other movies, I'd swear they couldn't even act. I guess they were slumming it with this thing. Don't waste your time or money. It's not even worthy of a Saturday SciFi Channel showing.
